Athana

Indian Classical Raga

Athana is a janya raga generally classified under the 29th melakarta Sankarabharanam (Dheerasankarabharanam). It does not follow a strict ascending-descending order, and it uses sadharana gandharam (G2) and kaishiki nishadham (N2) as anya swaras alongside its main scale. Athana carries veera rasa and is used to lift the energy of a concert.
