Calanata
Indian Classical Raga
Chalanata is the 36th melakarta raga in the Carnatic 72 melakarta system, the sixth and last raga of the Rutu chakra. It is a sampoorna raga and is the shuddha madhyamam equivalent of Rasikapriya, the 72nd and final melakarta. Its janya ragas include Nata and Gambhiranata, of which Nata is sung often in concerts. Baluswami Dikshitar's varnam "Rajadhiraja" is set in this raga.
