Jalarnava
Indian Classical Raga
Jalarnavam is the 38th melakarta raga in the Carnatic 72 melakarta system, the second raga of the Rishi chakra. Its name means "the ocean" in Sanskrit. It is a sampoorna raga, containing all seven notes in both ascending and descending scales. Compositions in this raga include Muthuswami Dikshitar's "Sri Vidhya Rajagopalam" and Koteeswara Iyer's "Kanaka Mayura."
