Latangi

Indian Classical Raga

Latangi is a raga in Carnatic music and the 63rd melakarta raga in the 72 melakarta system, the third raga of the eleventh chakra, Rudra. It is described as best suited for night-time recital, mixing emotions of sorrow, compassion and meditation, and can also carry a devotional mood. Composers who have set kritis to it include Thyagaraja, with Aparadhamula and Diname Sudhinamu, and Papanasam Sivan, with Venkataramana.
