Purvi
Indian Classical Raga
Purvi is a janya raga of the 15th melakarta Mayamalavagowla in Carnatic music. It is a shadava-sampurna raga, omitting panchamam in the ascent while using all seven notes in the descent. It should not be confused with the Hindustani raga of the same name, which uses a tivra madhyamam and belongs to a different scale (the Purvi thaat).
