Salagam is the 37th melakarta raga in the Carnatic 72 melakarta system, the first raga of the Rishi chakra. It is also known as Sowgandhini in the Muthuswami Dikshitar school. Compositions in this raga include Muthuswami Dikshitar's "Kamakoti Peetha" and Koteeswara Iyer's "Ganamrudham."
