Shubhapantuvarali is the 45th melakarta raga in the Carnatic 72 melakarta system, the third raga of the Vasu chakra. It corresponds to Todi thaat in Hindustani music. The raga has a sorrowful character and is typically used for songs of pathos. Compositions in this raga include Tyagaraja's "Ennalu Urake" and Muthuswami Dikshitar's "Sri Satyanarayanam," and it is also used in Tamil and Malayalam film music.
