About
Shri Rama Kala Vedike traces its origins to 1978, when Pt. Ravindra Yavagal began memorial concerts in Bengaluru honouring his father Ramachandra Yavagal, and was formally registered as a trust in 2000 with support from his mother Parvathibai Yavagal. It promotes Indian classical music through annual concerts featuring veteran and emerging artists, workshops, and scholarships for committed music students. The trust confers annual "Kalashrunga" awards recognising five people each year for contributions to teaching, instrument-making, criticism and music promotion, and it provides medical assistance to senior musicians.
