Anandabhairavi
Indian Classical Raga
Anandabhairavi is a sampurna raga with a vakra (zigzag) arohanam, classed as shadava-sampurna since its ascent takes an indirect six-step path against a complete seven-note descent. It also uses shuddha dhaivatam (D1) as an anya swaram, a note external to its usual parent scale, in some phrases. Sources differ on its melakarta parentage. The name Ananda means happiness in Sanskrit, and the raga is associated with a joyful mood.
