Bhairavi
Indian Classical Raga
Bhairavi is a sampurna janya raga of the 20th melakarta Natabhairavi. It uses shuddha dhaivatam (D1) in avarohanam and chatushruti dhaivatam (D2) in arohanam. It is classed as a bhashanga raga, since it also draws on a note outside its parent scale, and is considered a rakti raga valued for its emotional range. Carnatic Bhairavi is a distinct raga from the Hindustani raga of the same name.
