Mianmalhar

Indian Classical Raga

Miyan Malhar, also known as Miyan Ki Malhar and Tansen Ki Malhar, is a variation of the ancient Hindustani raga Malhar. It is a vakra raga with a shadhav-shadhav jati, placed in the thaat Kafi. The raga is associated with rain and, according to legend, it can bring rainfall. It is sung at any time in the monsoon, otherwise in the second prahar of the night.
