Ritigaula

Indian Classical Raga

Ritigaula (Reetigowla) is a vakra shadava-sampoorna janya raga of the 22nd melakarta Kharaharapriya, with six notes in ascent and seven in descent. It belongs to the group of ghana ragas and is well suited to tanam singing. It evokes a devotional, contemplative and compassionate mood, carrying karuna and bhakti rasas. In Muthuswami Dikshitar's school it corresponds to a melakarta called Naririthigaula.
