Rudrapriya

Indian Classical Raga

Rudrapriya is an old Carnatic raga grouped under Kharaharapriya, the 22nd melakarta. Its arohana-avarohana skips dhaivatam in the descent. Some sources describe it as the Carnatic form of the old Hindustani Kapi and treat it as a bhashanga raga. Muthuswami Dikshitar composed kritis in this raga, including 'Rudrakopa'.
