Sivaranjani

Indian Classical Raga

Shivaranjani is a pentatonic (audava-audava) Carnatic raga that is a janya of Kharaharapriya, the 22nd melakarta, omitting madhyamam and nishadam. The same name is used for a Hindustani raga of the same scale. It evokes the karuna (pathos) and bhakti rasas. A different Carnatic raga of the same name is associated with Vachaspati, the 64th melakarta.
