Indian Classical Raga

Shree (Sri) is a janya raga of the 22nd melakarta Kharaharapriya in Carnatic music. It is one of the five ancient Ghana ragas and does not use dhaivatam at all; the ascending scale further omits gandharam, which appears only in a vakra turn in the descent. It is considered an auspicious raga and has inspired compositions in Sanskrit, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. It should not be confused with the differently-structured Hindustani raga of the same name.
