Sindhubhairavi

Indian Classical Raga

Sindhubhairavi is a bhashanga janya raga classified in Carnatic music under the 8th melakarta Hanumatodi, though performance commonly uses notes such as chatushruti rishabham that fall outside the parent scale. It is also part of the Hindustani tradition, where it blends folk and classical elements. It is often performed as a concluding item at the end of Carnatic concerts. Its rasa spans both sorrow and joy, carrying karuna and bhakti as well as happiness.
